Big Muff Pi History

I recently swapped my NYC Big Muff to my buddy in exchange for a mic. Chances are at some point I will get another one. Before I bought my previous pedal I wanted to learn as much as I could and found everything I needed to know over at Kit Rae's Big Muff Pi Page. The history of these things alone is worth clicking the link. But there are lots of detailed pics, sound clips comparing different versions, info on various clones, and opinions on the different tones each circuit produced. Very cool stuff.

  1. I used to have a few of these - I loved 'em!! The Big Muff had a certain crunch that can't be replicated.

  2. I agree. Something about those pedals just sounds great. No matter what you dial in on them it works. What I like about EHX effects is the use-ability and versatility. I find a lot of other fuzz boxes out there are either one-trick ponies that are either on or off or they are just too crazy sounding to work in any reasonable band situation. At least for what I play.
